The time is drawing near for Patriotic Art. You need to be getting in touch
with your students in 9, 10, 11 or 12 grades. Students must attend school in
the same state as the sponsoring Ladies Auxiliary. Home-schooled students
are eligible, foreign exchange students are not. National Scholarships are as
follows:
$10,000 – First Place; $5,000 – Second Place, $2,500 – Third Place,
$1,500 – Fourth Place, $500 Fifth – Eighth Place.
If you need information concerning Patriotic Art, contact me or go to the LAVFW web site
www.ladiesauxvfw.org.
First Prize includes a plaque and airfare plus two nights’ lodging to attend the Ladies Auxiliary
National Convention. The first place art will be featured on the cover of the Ladies Auxiliary
VFW Magazine and on the Auxiliary Web site. Second and third place will be featured in the
Ladies Auxiliary VFW Magazine and the web site. Fourth through eighth place will be featured
on the web sit only. The winning entries will be held until September, so they can be displayed at
the Auxiliary National Convention. They will be returned directly to the students. MARCH 31,
2012 is the deadline for the first place winner from each Auxiliary to be sent to the Department
Youth Chairman for judging.
I am looking forward to seeing the art work the youth are preparing. Good Luck to all the
entrants.
I am looking forward to seeing all of you at the Council of Administration in Raleigh February
3-5, 2012 and remember February 14, Valentine’s Day. Have your youth to prepare valentines for the Veterans on this special day and make sure you report.
