President’s Notes

I am going to use this page to provide you with my thoughts as we go forward and prepare for the Winter Council of Administration Meeting and other events.  Why not share this page with your local auxiliary members.  Let them know that they can keep up with me and what we are trying to do to build the best Ladies Auxiliary in the nation.

My deepest sympathy goes to Rev. Parker’s family.  The Department feels a huge loss, even though we know he is in a better place.  As I reflect back to the funeral, I realize – we laugh together and we cry together.  That is a bond like no other organization.

WOW!  What a year!  Thank you so much for the warm welcome in the Districts I have visited.  It made me fell so special and so at home.  I want to thank all of you for your hard work.  We have passed the 95% now.  And it is a thrill to have three new Auxiliaries and possibly a new Junior Girls Unit.  I’m looking forward to the combat boots for (100%).  And now I look forward to seeing the reports come in.  I know we are doing the work for our Veterans, we just have to report.

I want to express my appreciation to all of you for “Stepping Up and Leaving No Veteran Behind” and for supporting my Special Project.  Everyone has made my year a year I will never forget.  I have seen how close we really are.  It has proven how team work does payoff.  To my line officers and chairmen, thank you for being there every step of the way.  I want to say a special thank you to the members responsible for bringing in the new Auxiliaries this year, and to others for saving Auxiliaries that were experiencing troubles.  Thank you to the sisters who have opened their home and let me stay with them.  To the Past Department Presidents, thank you for the help you gave me this year and faith you have shown in me.  Without your assistance, I would never have been able to do this.  We have shown a lot of people that North Carolina does have what it takes to be a winner.

Thank you Department Commander, Jason Schoolcraft.  It has been an honor and pleasure.  I am proud to say you are my Commander.  We did it right!  Thank you to Bruce Edwards for making the arrangements for our Ladies to meet in the fashion we have become accustomed to.

My hope is that you all show our next President the same support that you have shown me.  To next year’s officers, I hope you have a year as good as mine – or may I say, even better!  I hope that the members continue to show “Unity in Peasce” in their “Service with Pride” to our Veterans.  Let us never forget what our purpose is and why we joined this Great Organization.

Loyally,

Barbara Icard
